Unbroken: Esther’s Faith

Uganda – Aug ‘25

Esther is a Christian woman from a small village in western Uganda whose faith in Jesus Christ was tested in the most brutal way imaginable. Tricked into an abusive marriage, she was repeatedly pressured to convert to Islam and renounce her Christian faith. When she refused, the violence escalated.

One day, while fasting and working at her market stall, Esther was lured into the bush by her husband and brutally attacked with a machete. Left for dead, she miraculously survived—but at the cost of both her hands.

This Christian documentary film tells Esther’s powerful story of persecution, survival, and unwavering faith in Jesus. Through her testimony and the voices of church leaders and family members, we witness not only the trauma she endured, but also the hope that followed.

With support from TBF Trust, a Christian charity, and the Hand Project in Germany, Esther and her children are beginning to rebuild their lives. From safe housing to livelihood support and prosthetic arms, this story shows how the global Church can stand with persecuted Christians.

A moving true story of Christian persecution, resilience, forgiveness, and faith in Christ—even in the face of unimaginable suffering.
