Trustees Statement

Update: 10th January 2025

The Charity Commission has announced a statutory inquiry into TBF Trust due to its links to Barnabas Fund/Barnabas Aid that has been under investigation since October 2024. We welcome the Charity Commission announcement and their desire to determine if TBF Trust holds a relationship with US-based subsidiary Nexcus and if we have a structure similar to that of Barnabas Fund.

TBF Trust (registered charity no. 271602) is the original organisation that gave birth to Barnabas Aid. TBF Trust was established on 10 June 1976 with the name of In Contact Trust. The name of the Trust was changed to The Barnabas Fund during 1997 and from then until 2002 it was the charity for the work of Barnabas in the UK, after which the charitable company now called Barnabas Fund (registered charity no. 1092935) took on that role.

In April 2014 The Barnabas Fund’s name was changed to TBF Trust. Its vision, method and priorities are the same as they were when it functioned as the first Barnabas charity, quarter of a century ago. TBF Trust is here, serving Christ and His Suffering Church and has no statutory relationship with Nexcus.

The trustees are committed to cooperating fully and complying with instructions given by the Charity Commission during the course of the statutory inquiry.
