TBF TRUST

TBF Trust: Serving Christ and His Suffering People

TBF Trust is a channel for sending practical help to suffering Christians. We focus especially on helping those who suffer because they love, trust and follow the Lord Jesus Christ.

Can you do anything practical to help us?

CHURCH LEADERS, CONFERENCE IN CYPRUS 1989

That was the question which church leaders asked Patrick Sookhdeo at the end of a conference he organised in Cyprus in 1989.

The church leaders were from a range of countries where Christians were a persecuted minority. They had shared with each other about the pressures, harassment, discrimination and dangers they faced. They had urged Patrick to get believers around the world praying for them. Finally, rather shyly and awkwardly, they asked if Christians in easier situations might help them practically.

Patrick, his wife Rosemary and their colleague Caroline Kerslake set to work to raise funds to help those suffering for their faith in the Lord Jesus.

Practical help for persecuted Christians

Money cannot stop persecution but it can give some relief to Christians who are hard pressed.

  • Where discrimination makes a Christian community poor and weak, monthly food parcels can keep hunger away.
  • A church-run clinic can give medical treatment to sick believers who cannot afford to go to other doctors.
  • A few pounds can provide a Bible for a Christian family who have fled violence, leaving everything behind.
  • Roofing sheets can provide shelter for Christians whose homes have been destroyed by terrorists.
  • Covering the rent and electricity bills for a Bible college can enable the vital training of future ministry leaders to proceed.

It’s simple

We receive donations from Christians and churches around the world. We forward them to churches and Christian ministries in places of pressure and persecution to fund their projects to help local believers in need. Some projects give practical help. Some projects give spiritual help. Some strengthen the witness of the Church.

It’s cost-effective

Our overheads are low.  We don’t send people, we only send money, which keeps down the costs of providing aid.  We do our due diligence and monitoring as thriftily as possible.

It’s Biblical

The book of Acts describes to us the fellowship of the early believers and how they cared for one another in practical ways.

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there was no needy person among them.

Acts 4:32-34 (See also Acts 2:42-47.)

That’s why TBF is The Believers’ Fellowship. May God give us grace to live and love like this.

It’s prayerful

Practical aid and prayer go hand in hand.  Your prayers for persecuted Christians are just as important as your gifts, if not more so.  Please pray also for TBF Trust’s staff and our project partners around the world.

Statement Of Faith

We believe in the sovereignty and grace of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in creation, providence, redemption and final judgement.

We believe in the divine inspiration of the Holy Scripture and its consequent entire trustworthiness and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

We believe that human beings are made in the image of God, are created male and female to love, serve, worship and enjoy God and are entrusted with stewardship of God’s creation.

We believe in the universal sinfulness and guilt of humanity, making us subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.

We believe in the sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as our representative and substitute as being the sole and all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from its eternal consequences.

We believe in the justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead.

We believe in the illuminating, regenerating, indwelling, sanctifying and empowering work of God the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the priesthood of all believers, who form the universal Church, the Body of which Christ is the Head, committed by His command to the proclamation and demonstration of the Gospel throughout the world.

We believe in the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory.
